Welcome To The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan RCI @ CETSD IIT Jodhpur
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, aimed at bringing about transformative changes in the rural development processes. Inspired by the vision of inclusive growth, the program seeks to leverage the knowledge and expertise of higher educational institutions to build a sustainable and inclusive India.
UBA fosters a dynamic relationship between higher educational institutions and rural communities by facilitating the transfer of scientific knowledge and technical support to improve livelihoods and the overall quality of life in villages. The program actively encourages faculty members and students to engage with rural communities, identify development challenges, and devise practical solutions to accelerate sustainable rural progress.
Formally launched on November 11, 2014, by the Honorable President of India, UBA continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening rural India. The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) serves as the National Coordinating Institute for the program, ensuring effective implementation and nationwide outreach.

Message From The Director

Prof. Avinash Kumar Agrawal
Director (IIT Jodhpur)
India is a country of villages, and until the comprehensive development of villages is achieved, the overall development of India will remain incomplete. The objective of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is to advance this very idea, that higher educational institutions dedicate their technical and intellectual resources for the upliftment of rural India.
IIT Jodhpur, as a UBA Regional Coordination Institute (RCI), is working in 14 districts of Rajasthan. Our goal is to link technical activities with the ground-level needs of the villages, so that practical solutions to local problems can be found.
IIT Jodhpur is committed to the sustainable development of western Rajasthan. UBA Regional Coordinator Dr. Vivek Vijay and his team are promoting research on key rural issues such as water scarcity, quality education, environmental imbalances, and skill development. This effort is not limited to research alone, but also serves as a meaningful initiative to empower rural youth and connect them with the mainstream of development.
Faculty members from various
departments of the institute are also guiding rural youth through their
knowledge and experience, thereby promoting a culture of innovation and local
solutions.
We believe that this effort by IIT Jodhpur will prove to be a significant step towards achieving the core objectives of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan—rural development, technological innovation, participation, and sustainable development.
