Message from the Regional Coordinator (UBA RCI, IIT Jodhpur)
To strengthen and enrich the
rural landscape of India, it is not only economic resources that are required,
but also participatory planning, local awareness, and technical guidance. The
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) keeps this perspective at its core, linking higher
educational institutions with the process of village development. IIT Jodhpur,
as a Regional Coordination Institute (RCI), is effectively implementing this
mission across 14 districts of Rajasthan.
In line with the ground-level
needs of rural areas, UBA RCI IIT Jodhpur is undertaking several strategic
initiatives. A District Coordination Institute (DCI) and faculty members from
IIT Jodhpur have been designated for each district to guide regional activities.
Additionally, "Village Youth Clubs" are being established in
participating institutions, with the aim to identify village problems, prepare
youth for active participation in the solution process, and develop sensitivity
towards rural life.
To effectively understand and
implement the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) at the grassroots level,
we are collaborating with the Panchayati Raj Department of Rajasthan and the
Government of India. Our effort is to ensure that the plans do not remain
limited to paper but are implemented on the ground through the participation of
village residents. Faculty members and researchers are being motivated to
develop local solutions in areas such as water conservation, environmental
balance, quality education, and skill development.
UBA RCI IIT Jodhpur is also
working with UNICEF to ensure that our activities are aligned with the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This collaboration is not only a
step towards global standards but also provides a visionary approach to the
development of rural India.
I extend my gratitude to all the
participating institutions, dedicated faculty members, and motivated youth who
are keeping this initiative alive. Our collective effort is what will make
rural India self-reliant, inclusive, and prosperous.
Jai Hind.
