About PI
All Participating Institutions (PIs) under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) are required to establish a dedicated UBA Cell within their campus. This cell is responsible for implementing and coordinating UBA activities, with a strong focus on fostering sustainable rural development.
Each UBA Cell should consist of an active working group comprising motivated faculty members from diverse disciplines. The Cell's functioning is overseen by two key bodies:
- An Executive Committee for operational guidance.
- A Local Advisory Committee, chaired by the Head of the Institution, for strategic oversight.
Key Responsibilities of a UBA Cell:
- Develop Linkages with Rural Clusters: Establish strong connections with selected rural areas, understand their developmental needs, and participate in the village planning process.
- Promote Science & Technology Interventions: Facilitate context-specific S&T solutions to support and enhance developmental efforts in the adopted clusters.
- Capacity Building: Develop the competence of the UBA team through regular orientation and training programs, and nurture a culture of rural engagement within the institution.
- Institutional Ethos and Curriculum Integration: Initiate curricular changes and create an institutional ethos that encourages active participation in rural development and sustainability.
Each PI is mentored and supported by its designated Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI) to ensure alignment with UBA's objectives.
RCI IIT Jodhpur and Its Participating Institutions:
The Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI) at IIT Jodhpur plays a crucial mentoring and facilitation role in western India. Currently, 50 Participating Institutions (PIs) operate under the guidance of RCI IIT Jodhpur. These institutions are actively engaged in implementing UBA activities in their respective rural clusters, with IIT Jodhpur providing strategic support, technical guidance, and capacity-building initiatives.
Through this collaborative framework, UBA Cells across these 50 institutions are contributing significantly to the national mission of rural transformation.
