Dr. Amrita Puri has been an assistant professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur since July 2019. She completed her PhD in the field of active control of noise in vibro-acoustic cavities from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Her PhD thesis work has been published in Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Applied Acoustics, Journal of Sound and Vibration etc. She was awarded ‘Distinction in Doctoral Research for the year 2019’ by Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Prior to that, she did Master of Technology in Solid Mechanics and Design from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Her first PhD student is working in the field of spatial sound field synthesis techniques to render focused and non-focused moving sound sources. The work has been published in Journal of Audio Engineering Society. Currently, she is supervising 3 full time PhD students and 1 part time PhD student. She has taught undergraduate course of ‘Engineering Mechanics’ and postgraduate courses of ‘Introduction to Acoustics’, ‘Modeling and control of Mechanical systems’ and ‘Geometric modeling and CAD’. Currently, she is principal investigator of three sponsored research projects broadly in the field of sound control.
