IITJ Technology Innovation and Start-up Centre (TISC), A section 8 company - promoted by and at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ) is set up to promote innovation and entrepreneurship by converting and translating novel technology ideas and knowledge in various disciplines of science and engineering into products, processes, and services for commercial exploitation and societal consumption. To accomplish this objective of IITJ, TISC operates and manages a Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at IITJ to facilitate incubation of new enterprises with innovative technologies by admitting them in TISC and providing them with physical, technical, and networking support and services.
Aligned with the adopted Vision and Mission objectives, IITJ encourages the practice of technology-leveraged entrepreneurships by the members in the academic community, which includes the faculty members and the student community as the prime entities. The Institute encourages the academic community to engage in translational research activities, work on contemporary/futuristic societal problems as part of academic exercises - leading to Intellectual Properties (IPs) and leverage TISC in applications of IPs / new Knowledge for the societal outreach through innovative products/processes/services. The institute has formulated policies for participation of faculties and students in the promotion/implementation of new Innovative technology ventures and concurrently undertook a few structural changes - both in the academic curricula, infrastructure, and promotion of secondary institutions at IITJ to enable the emergence of the Institute from an academic Institution to an academic Enterprise.
