Abstract : Rational equivalence on an algebraic variety is like path connectedness for usual topological spaces. We get very useful information on the structure of algebraic groups if we study this equivalence. The talk will explain this notion and present some recent results in the subject, without getting into technicalities. This should be accessible to graduate students as well as PhD students.
