Title of the talk: "Optimal Fluid Flow in Networks"
Date & Time & Venue: 26 August 2025 at 12 PM, Seminar Hall, Dept. of Mathematics
Abstract: In many biological and engineering applications, it is required to transport the fluid through the networks with minimal work done. The fluid transport depends on various geometrical characteristics of the network and the fluid flow parameters. When there are certain obstructions or faults in the network, the optimality criterion deviates. In this talk, I will first discuss the optimal fluid flow criterion for tree-shaped networks by using the electrical circuit analogy. Later, I will discuss its application and the various challenges to adopt the derived theory on the human respiratory system. Furthermore, I will extend my discussion to understand the importance of electrical circuit analogy to study the optimality criterion of fluid flow in planar networks.
