Research Seminar by Dr. Divya Kappara on April 16, 2026, at 05:00 PM
Title of the talk: On statistical methods for modelling of spatial time series with applications to infectious disease data.
Date and Time: April 16, 5 PM(In-person)
Venue: Seminar room, Dept. of Mathematics
Abstract: Spatial time series, which refers to time-series data collected at fixed spatial locations, has gained increasing importance in recent times. Its applications are rapidly increasing in fields such as epidemiology, environmental science, and public health, particularly for modelling and understanding infectious disease dynamics. In this talk, I provide an overview of my research, focusing on methodological developments in this area and their applications to infectious disease data.
Teaching Topic: Count Regression.
Short bio: Dr Divya Kappara is currently an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at the IIT Bombay, working with Prof. Siuli Mukhopadhyay. Her research interests include spatial statistics, spatio-temporal modelling, measures of dependence, and infectious disease modelling. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Hyderabad under the supervision of Prof. Madhuchandha Bhattacharjee and the co-supervision of Prof. Arup Bose (ISI, Kolkata). Her current research focuses on developing statistical methods for modelling infectious disease data.
