Title of the Talk : Optimization and a few things I know about it.
Date, Time and venue: 23 Feb, 2024 at 5:00 p.m., @Meeting Room, Dept of Mathematics.
Abstract: This talk starts trying to answer the "why" of the very basics of optimization and then moves quickly to the Lagrangian multiplier rule and the key idea behind it and at the same time providing a simple proof for the two variable case. Then the talk will proceed to study modern optimization through the celebrated Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions and proceed to show the role of convexity and Lagrange multipliers in modern optimization.
