Q1. How do we reach the IIT Jodhpur campus from Jodhpur Airport /
Railway Station / Bus Station?
IIT Jodhpur is located on the outskirts of Jodhpur on National
Highway 65 at Karwar Village, about 24 km from the railway station and 25 km
from the airport. It takes approximately 45 mins from the airport and 40 mins
from the railway station.
By Rail: Connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad,
Kota, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Guwahati, Nagpur, Lucknow
and Jaipur.
By Air: Daily flights from Delhi and Mumbai. Indigo and Air India
operates these routes.
By Road: Connected by highway to Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur and
Ahmedabad. Buses ply from Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
From Airport: Prepaid auto/taxi to NH-65, Nagaur Road, Karwad (via
Mandore). About 28 km from airport.
From Railway Station: Exit from Platform No. 1. Prepaid auto/taxi to

Q2. How developed is the IIT Jodhpur campus at Karwad?
The permanent campus spans 852 acres, about 24 km from Jodhpur city
centre on NH-65. It is the first fully-planned technical institute campus in
India, featuring separate hostels, a supermarket, library, Lecture Hall
Complex, 24-hour Health Centre with ambulance, residential and sports areas,
and department-specific zones restaurant, etc.
Q3. What are the good places to hang out in Jodhpur?
Jodhpur is a tourist hotspot. Key attractions near campus:
Mehrangarh Fort (about 28 km from campus), Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace,
Balsamand Lake, Kaylana Lake and Jodhpur City market. Bus services run between
the Institute and city at regular intervals.
Q4. How is the weather at IIT Jodhpur campus?
Jodhpur is known as the Sun City with a dry, hot desert climate.
Average annual rainfall: about 32 cm. Summer: Max 42°C, Min 37°C. Winter: Max
27.5°C, Min 10°C. It rains in July and August. We suggest to carry an umbrella.
Q5. Are there any wild animals in the IIT Jodhpur campus?
Snakes, scorpions, deer and small creatures may be spotted in
less-traversed areas at night. However, Students are provided with all the
safety measures. Each room has a window net to prevent insects from entering.
Q6. What if I get lost on campus?
Guards are posted at every corner of the campus and will assist you.
A campus road map will also be provided.
Q7. What kind of accommodation is available for students?
Hostel rooms are allotted on the reporting date itself, not before.
All rooms are air-conditioned.
Q8. Where will freshers be accommodated?
Freshers are accommodated in the hostel buildings. Detailed room
allotment information will be provided on the reporting date.
Q9. Will there be accommodation for my parents when I arrive?
No accommodation is provided to parents. Students receive their
hostel room on the reporting date.
Q10. Is a guest house available for parents on campus? What are the

No guest house is available for parents. Nearby hotels:

Q11. Is there ragging? Does IIT Jodhpur have policies against it?
Ragging is strictly prohibited and punishable. IITJ has an
Anti-Ragging Squad and takes strict action against any reported instance.
Q12. Can freshers bring laptops in the first semester? How is
internet on campus?
Yes, laptops are allowed from day one (optional). LAN and Wi-Fi are
available in all hostels and academic buildings. Computer centres are
accessible during normal office hours.
Q13. What are the bank and ATM facilities on campus?
There is an SBI branch, a Canara Bank branch, and SBI, HDFC bank ATM
are available within the campus.
Q14. What is the holiday schedule of IIT Jodhpur?
Saturdays and Sundays are non-working. Other holidays are in the

Q15. What extra-curricular activities and clubs are available?
Student Gymkhana operates through seven societies: Sports &
Games Society, Cultural & Literary Society, Design & Arts Society,
Science & Technology Society, Academics & Careers Society, Campus Life
Society, Student Elected Representatives Society. Hostel activities are
organized through Students Regatta. Major fests: Varchas (sports), Ignus
(techno-cultural-social), Spandan (intra-college), Unplugged Night etc.
Q16. What are the medical facilities on campus?
Primary Health Centre with 24x7 routine health services, 24-hour
ambulance service, six hospitals in Jodhpur city empanelled by the Institute,
and a Medical Board with senior doctors from the Medical College and AIIMS.
Q17. What scholarships and financial assistance are available?
Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships are awarded to up to 25% of
B.Tech. students. Tuition fee waivers are also available for students with

Q18. What is the procedure for getting the MCM scholarship?
Submit the application form (available at Office of Students) along
with: (1) Annual Income Certificate (Form 16) — family income must not exceed
Rs. 6.0 Lakhs p.a. (2) Copy of Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the current
assessment year. Submit to: Coordinator (Students), Office of Students.
Q19. Which companies have offered placements to students?

Q20. What kind of training do students get for internships?
Sessions organised by the Academics & Careers Society and
Student Placement Cell cover personality development, industry exposure, and
career readiness among others.
Q21. Are there any mentorship programs available?
Yes. One faculty member is allocated to a group of students.
Freshers also receive a counselling team member for queries and support.
Q22. How many girls' hostels are there? Will all first-year female
students be in the same hostel?
As of now, There are five girls' hostels at IIT Jodhpur. All
first-year female students are accommodated in the same hostel.
Q23. Is it safe for female students on campus and nearby?
The campus has round-the-clock professional security with guards at
each hostel and registered entry/exit logs. Nearby institutions like NIFT and
NLU are in the vicinity. It is advisable to stay within campus during odd
hours.
Q24. Is there any cell or club specifically for female students?
Yes — the Women Cell, IIT Jodhpur, functions under the Sexual
Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act,
2013.
ACADEMICS FAQs
Q1. What is the seat allocation procedure?
JOSAA seat allocation is conducted in 6 rounds plus two mock rounds.
Students must register and fill choices, then report at the nearest centre for
document verification and select Freeze, Slide, or Float.

Q3. How do I fill up my choices for various undergraduate programs?
Check last year's cutoffs for your desired branch against your rank.
Fill choices a few hundred ranking points above and below your rank. Fill as
many choices as possible — there is no limit.
Q4. Can I change my department post-admission?
No, Branch change option is not available.
Q5. What academic programs are available and under which
departments?

Q6. Will we be buying books or can we get them from the library?
Books can be borrowed with a valid Institute ID. A special Book Bank
collection exists for SC/ST students per GoI norms; apply during the schedule
announced by Book Bank volunteers.

REGISTRATION FAQs
Q1. How about registration? What items need to be brought and what
are the procedures?
UG: Bring originals and at least 2 photocopies of each: JEE Mains
& Advanced score cards for UG and GATE, NET, JAM score cards for PG, proof
of address, identity proof, passport-size photographs, caste certificate (if
applicable), domicile certificate, and any other documents listed on the
official website/offer latter. The registration procedure will be explained in
detail by SWC members upon arrival.
Q2. What about community/caste certificate, fee payment, and other
formalities?
Caste certificate: Bring your certificate; use the specific format
if mentioned on the official website. Fee payment: Done via erp. Date of portal
opening will be communicated. Student loan: Complete all related documents if
applying.
Q3. What forms are required at the time of admission? What about
medical certificates?
Required forms: (1) Registration verification form (Acceptance of
Admission), (2) Student bio-data form, (3) Medical form (IITJ format
preferred), (4) Anti-ragging undertaking, (5) Student undertaking for alcohol,
(6) Harassment undertaking, (7) Regular attendance undertaking, (8) Code of
conduct, (9) Academic registration form, (10) Proof of payment, (11) Character
certificate from previous institute, (12) Aadhaar card, (13) Four passport-size
photographs and any other documents listed on the mail received from IITJ.
Q4. Will there be any other formalities after registration?
No. Once the full registration process is complete (fees paid and
all documents submitted), there are generally no further formalities.
