About

Dr. Rakesh Pawar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, a position he has held since December 2025. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, in September 2017. Before this, he completed his M.Sc. in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay from 2010–2012.

Following his Ph.D., Dr. Pawar held several postdoctoral positions. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, from October 2017 to September 2018. He subsequently held a Postdoctoral position at IISER Mohali (2019-2021) and an NBHM postdoctoral fellowship at IISER Pune (2021-2023). He was a postdoc at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France (September 2023-August 2024). He was a Visiting Scientist at HRI Prayagaraj (Sept 2024-July 2025) and then a Visiting Assistant Professor at Kerala School of Mathematics, Kerala (August 2025-December 2025).

His area of research is Algebraic Geometry, and his interests lie in Algebraic cycles, Motives, Milnor-(Witt) K-theory, the applications of homotopical methods in Algebraic Geometry, and commutative algebra.
