Analytical and Physical Chemistry Laboratory
This lab is newly set up in the academic year 2018-2019, the lab procured equipments such as UV-visible spectrometers, FTIR Spectrometers, Fluorescence Spectrometer, Electrochemical Workstation, Contact Angle Meter, Polarimeter for carrying out state of the experiements in Analytical and Physical Chemistry. This laboratory can accomodate 40 students together for carrying out group experiments.

Presently, our M.Sc. Students carry out following experiments in the laboratory-CYP 6040 :
Physical Chemistry
- Determination of critical micellar concentration by conductometry and calculation of free energy of micellization
- Determination of Heat Capacity of metals by Dynamic Scanning Calorimeter and verification of Dulong and Petit Method
- Quantification of Protein Denaturation by UV-Vis Spectroscopy.
- Determination of the ligand-protein binding constant using Fluorescence Quenching Technique
- Determination of 1H spin-lattice relaxation time by NMR Inversion Recovery Method
- Determination of Gibbs free energy of the keto-enol tautomerism by 1H NMR
- Determination of absorptivity of bromobenzene vibrational band by FTIR
- Study of surface properties (surface energy and surface tension) of various surfaces and solutions.
- Study of Redox reactions for understanding the reversibility of the reactions using cyclic voltammetry
- Surface Adsorption Kinetics of Dyes on activated carbon using UV-Visible spectroscopy/calorimetry
B.Tech. Students carry out following experiments in laboratory-CYP 1010 :
Physical Chemistry
- Fourier transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy in combination technique for analysis of caffeine in tea and coffee
- The excitation and emission spectrum of Curcumin in solvents ethanol and hexane respectively and find stokes shift using Fluorescence Spectroscopy
- Surface contact angle, surface tension and surface free energies of different solvents and substrates respectively
- Study of a reversible redox reaction using Cyclic Voltammetric analysis
- Study of color in complexes using UV visible Spectroscopy
- Determination of Critical Micelle Concentration of a surfactant by Conductivity Method
- Study of Corrosion of Stainless Steel using Tafel Analysis
- Determination of enantiomeric purity of Naproxen and Ibuprofen
