Dr. Dipanjan Roy, PhD, FNASc, is a Professor in the Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering at IIT Jodhpur, where he leads the Cognitive Brain Dynamics Laboratory and coordinates the Cognitive Engineering division, with research spanning EEG, neuroimaging, signal processing, brain mapping, computational neuroscience, and neurobehavioral studies. He earned his MS in Physics from the University of Texas in 2006 and completed his PhD in Computational and Systems Neuroscience from the French National Centre for Scientific Research, CNRS Institute of Systems Neuroscience in France in 2011. His research interests encompass cognitive neuroscience, computational neuroscience, network neuroscience, and the application of neural networks and artificial intelligence to brain science, with particular focus on atypical brain development and neurodevelopmental disorders, brain aging, multisensory perception, emotion dynamics, and whole-brain computational modeling. Before joining IIT Jodhpur in 2021, he served as Associate Professor at the BRIC-National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Manesar, where he led the Cognitive Brain Dynamics Lab (CBDL) investigating brain mapping of common mental health disorders in India and contributing to the National Dementia Science Program; earlier, he held research associate positions at Charité and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience (BCCN) Berlin, collaborating with Petra Ritter's lab at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and with Klaus Obermayer's Neuroinformatics Lab at TU Berlin, and also conducted research in Mriganka Sur's lab at MIT's Picower Institute for Learning and Memory. His work has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Neuroscience, Autism Research, NeuroImage, Communications Biology, Cerebral Cortex, Scientific Reports, Physical Review Letters, eNeuro, Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, Network Neuroscience, and the European Journal of Neuroscience, and he serves on the editorial boards of Physics of Life Reviews, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience, and Frontiers in Psychology. Dr. Roy's contributions have been recognized with several prestigious honors, including the Department of Biotechnology's Ramalingaswami Fellowship and the OHBM Merit Award, and he is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI).
