Dr Akanksha Choudhary is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Economics at the IIT Jodhpur. Her research sits at the intersection of
intergenerational mobility, desert economic systems, and health and gender,
with a particular focus on how communities in western Rajasthan navigate
socio-economic change while preserving indigenous Knowledge Systems. Dr
Choudhary earned her PhD from IIT Bombay in 2020, during which her work was
recognised with the Excellence in PhD award. Research Award. Her scholarship
has appeared in journals including Social Indicators Research, PLOS ONE, and
the International Journal of Social Economics. In 2017, she was selected for
the prestigious RDW Fellowship at the International Labour Organisation in
Geneva.
Dr Choudhary’s research focuses on development economics, education and health economics, data-driven policy, and gender studies, with a particular emphasis on intergenerational mobility. Her work contributes to understanding the dynamics of cultural heritage preservation and the socio-economic development of communities in Rajasthan. She has also served as a Knowledge Partner in the evaluation of the Ashirwad Water Challenge.
