Dr. Krunal Gangawane has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, since March 2023. Before this, He was a faculty member at NIT Rourkela. His research focuses on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the lattice Boltzmann method, non-Newtonian rheology, magnetohydrodynamics, thermal energy storage, etc.
At IIT Jodhpur, his ongoing research focuses on the following themes:
Lattice Boltzmann simulation for Magnetohydrodynamics-based convection.
CFD for Enclosed flows.
Experimental as well as numerical study of thermal energy storage systems.
Development of aerogels for different applications.
Dr. Krunal has completed his M.Tech and PhD from IIT Roorkee in 2010, and 2015, respectively. His PhD thesis topic was ‘Convective Flow and Heat Transfer Analysis using Thermal lattice Boltzmann method’ With a strong passion for advancing scientific knowledge, He has authored over 50 publications, including five edited books.
Dr. Krunal has received research funding of more than 1.5 crore from various govt agencies, such as ISRO RESPOND, ANRF, and Ministry of Education (MoE). He acted as an honorary regional secretary for IICHE - Rourkela regional center. He is also a Life member of Institution of Engineers (IEI), since 2018. Recently, Dr. Krunal was awarded with International Mobility Research Grant (IMRG)- 2025 by IIT Jodhpur to visit the University of New South Wales, Canberra, Australia.
