About

Dr. Sumeet Khanna is Faculty in the Department of Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. He completed his B.Tech. - M.Tech Dual Degree in Materials Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 2015. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru in 2021, where his research projects spanned microstructure modelling and machine learning in materials. He has post doctoral industrial research experience working on advanced magnetic and high temperature materials for energy, EV and automotive sectors. His present research interests are on magnetic materials, multiscale materials modelling using CALPHAD, phase field, cellular automata, and Artificial Intelligence  applications in materials.

Research

Our group is primarily involved in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) across different length scales (CALPHAD, phase field method, cellular automata), Material Informatics, applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Materials and manufacturing and characterization of electromagnetic materials for EVs. The scope of material systems studied encompasses strong permanent magnets, soft magnets, high temperature (superalloys, steels etc.) and light weight materials, using both advanced computational and experimental methods.
