About:

Dr. Sanhita Das is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. Her research focuses on computational mechanics for understanding the constitutive behavior of amorphous solids, damage and self-healing in polymers, concrete, and geomaterials, as well as the development of smart materials with stimulus sensitivity. She is also interested in smart deployable structures for energy harvesting and post-disaster management, with a future research focus on Physics-Informed Neural Networks.

Dr. Das holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (2022), an M.Tech. in Structural Engineering from IIT Kharagpur (2013), and a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University (2010). Before joining IIT Jodhpur, she gained diverse industry and research experience. She worked as a Civil Engineer at M.N. Dastur & Company (2010-2011) and as an Engineer in the Structure and Thermal Analysis Department at Airbus Group India Pvt. Ltd. (2013-2016). She also held academic research positions as a Research Associate at IISc Bangalore (2021-2022) and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel (2022-2023).

At IIT Jodhpur, Dr. Das is involved in teaching Engineering Mechanics, Cyber-Physical Systems in Civil Engineering, Mechanics of Solids, Smart Infrastructure Engineering, and the Finite Element Method. Passionate about material behavior and computational mechanics, she invites students and researchers to explore the fascinating world of materials and structural modeling through her research.
