Dr. Bandi Ravi Kumar completed his Ph.D. from the electrical engineering department at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur in December 2023. He did his Ph.D. in power system protection under the guidance of Prof. Abheejeet Mohapatra and Prof. Saikat Chakrabarti, IIT Kanpur.

Post Ph.D., he worked at EEGrid analytics from Jan-March 2024 as a power system planning engineer. Later, he worked at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Research as a Scientist from April 2024-Dec 2025.

He received "Grid India Power Systems Award (GIPSA) 2024 in the Doctoral category (formerly known as POSOCO Power Systems Award).

His current research interests include Power system protection, Power system monitoring (State estimation, Low frequency oscillations monitoring, etc), Synchrophasors and their applications for power system, Optimization.

He is a member of IEEE and the reviewer for IEEE Trans. on Power Delivery, IEEE Trans. on Instrumentation & Measurement, IEEE Trans. on Industrial Informatics, and IJEPES.

He has completed three consultancy projects during his Ph.D., namely,

1. Technical Verification of Electrical Relay Settings for 750V DC Traction System and 220kV and 33kV AC Systems in Kanpur Metro Project, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC).
2. Development of DSP algorithms for numeric protection relay, Synergy Systems and Solutions.
3. Validating Similarity of Power Transformers for Short Circuit Testing With Reference To IEC 60076(2006), Part5, Annexure B, Technical Associates Ltd.
