Sherin Sabu

An Assistant Professor of Sociology at the School of Liberal Arts, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. Her expertise spans gender studies, new kinship studies, sensory anthropology, sociology of law, and quantitative methods in the social sciences. She is also currently pursuing research interests in visual anthropology. Dr. Sabu completed her undergraduate studies in Sociology (Honours) at Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi, and received a Gold Medal for postgraduate studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. She was also awarded the Naik and Rastogi Best PhD Research Award at IIT Bombay for her doctoral research excellence (2023). Her work has been published in several international, peer-reviewed journals, including The Senses and Society, The Journal of Religion and Health, Ethnos: Journal of Anthropology, and Anthrozoös. Dr. Sabu has presented her research at prestigious platforms such as the European Association of Social Anthropology and the European Association for South Asian Studies. She is currently the Principal Investigator of an ICSSR Major Research Project (2024–2025), focusing on foraging economies, indigenous knowledge systems, and sustainability in India.
