Born into an artist family in Belgium, Joncheere discovered dance and music from Rajasthan (India) at the age of twelve, igniting a lifelong passion. Pursuing a degree in Indian Languages and Cultures at Ghent University, she earned her PhD in 2016, specializing in ethnography, cultural anthropology, and performance studies. As an Associate Professor of Arts and Anthropology at IIT Jodhpur, she is renowned for her expertise in art forms from Rajasthan. Leading research groups and interdisciplinary projects, she also excels as a dancer, choreographer, curator, and arts organizer. Her contributions include founding Bollylicious, Maghenta, organizing Indialogue Festivals, and developing Kalbeliya World.
