About:

Dr. Saran Aadhar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur and is affiliated with the Center for Intelligent Infrastructure, School of AI and Data Sciences. His research focuses on real-time monitoring of drought and floods, sub-seasonal to seasonal forecasting of hydrological extremes, hydrological processes under changing and anthropogenic climates, and the impact of climate change on water resources.

Dr. Aadhar earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar in 2021 and completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Raipur in 2015. As part of his academic journey, he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA in 2019. Before joining IIT Jodhpur, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, from December 2020 to November 2021.

Recognized for his contributions to hydrology and climate science, Dr. Aadhar has received numerous prestigious awards and honors. He is a Young Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences and a recipient of the 2024 CDRI Fellowship. His research excellence has been acknowledged with the Best Discussion Award (2022) by the Journal of Hydrological Engineering (ASCE) and the Sivapalan Young Scientists Travel Award from the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS). Additionally, he has been awarded the Water Advanced Research and Innovation (WARI) Fellowship by the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum, the Ministry of Education Ph.D. Fellowship (2015-2020), and travel grants from SERB, SPARC, and ITRA. He has also received the IIT Gandhinagar Cash Research Award for his outstanding academic contributions.

With a strong foundation in hydrological modeling and climate impact assessment, Dr. Aadhar continues to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at improving water resource management and mitigating the risks of extreme hydrological events.
