Biography

I have joined Dept. of Physics, IIT Jodhpur in September 2022 as an Assistant Professor. Prior to that, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, and the University of Lisbon, Portugal with Prof. Nuno Araujo and Prof. Margarida Telo Gamma. In JNCASR, Bangalore, I worked as a research associate with Prof. Subir K Das. I received doctoral degree in Physics from Banaras Hindu University. During my PhD, I have constructed the first thermodynamics model to analyze the nonlinear dielectric effect and the effect of pressure on the structure and properties of the achiral, bent-core, and ferroelectric liquid crystals.

Research

Our group focus on understanding the physical mechanisms underlying soft materials in biological perspectives and active matter systems. We aim to develop analytical, statistical mechanics, electrodynamics, and computational techniques to address the most exciting unsolved scientific challenges in these highly interdisciplinary fields. Current research topics include the following problems-

  1. Theoretical modeling of nature-inspired soft robots
  2. Electrostatics in biophysics and technical applications
  3. Liquid-liquid phase separation in biology
  4. Physics of Active(self propelled) particles
  5. Flow physics of micro-organisms
  6. Phase transitions in liquid crystals
