About:

Dr. Deepika Bhattu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. Prior to joining IIT Jodhpur, she spent four years (January 2016 – December 2019) as a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry, Paul Scherrer Institut, Switzerland. During this period, she investigated the impact of various combustion technologies, operating conditions, and atmospheric oxidation regimes on gas and particulate emissions from residential biomass combustion. Additionally, her research focused on the long-term quantification, characterization, and source apportionment of PM2.5 carbonaceous aerosols in New Delhi, a highly polluted Indian megacity.

During her Ph.D. at IIT Kanpur, she worked on understanding the relationship between the physico-chemical properties of ambient aerosols and their Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN) activity. Her doctoral thesis was titled "Effects of aerosol size, chemical composition, mixing state, and volatility on cloud condensation nuclei activity (CCN) in the ambient atmosphere.
