About

Souryabrata joined the team in Spring 2025. His research looks at how vulnerable economies respond to environmental change, from climate shocks to long-run structural shifts. Lately, he has been focusing more on green transitions in EMDEs, particularly renewable energy and the circular (bio)economy, often using meta-analysis and ML/GIS methods.

Climate risks and agribusiness remain his core interests. He is currently leading an ICSSR-funded project (2026–28) on climate migration in the blue economy. Before joining IIT Jodhpur, he worked on the IGSD project, examining the economic impacts of Arctic ice melt using CGE modelling. Over time, he has held several research and visiting roles, collaborated with ADBI (Tokyo) on multiple occasions, and continues to engage with professional associations through policy forums.

His work has been recognised by CG Research Networks (USA). He has received an early doctoral completion fellowship and publication prizes from the UOA Business School (New Zealand). Earlier in his academic journey, he was awarded a gold medal during his bachelor’s studies and was recognised by the RBI Governor during his master’s programme.

He currently serves as Managing Editor of IFAMR and sits on the editorial boards of a few high-impact journals. He has published over 20 papers in leading economics journals, including EAP, AJARE, JAPE and CAER, and also writes invited opinion pieces for newspapers such as The Hindu, Hindustan Times, The Indian Express, and Financial Express, bringing research insights into wider public discourse.
