Biography

Dr. Jitendra Kumar is Joint Faculty in the Department of Physics and the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. He completed his B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, in 2009, followed by an M.Tech. in Nanotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2011. Dr. Kumar earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2019, where his research focused on the synthesis and characterization of solution-processed Cu2ZnSnS4 thin films for solar cell applications. After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Kumar worked as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi until 2020. During this tenure, his research primarily focused on the synthesis of inorganic perovskite nanocubes (CsPbIxBr3-x) using a hot-injection technique for solar cell applications. From 2020 to 2023, he held a postdoctoral position at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, where his research centered on (BixSb1-x)2Se3-based solar cells. Between August 2023 and April 2025, he served as an INSPIRE Faculty at IIT Dhanbad, leading research on BaZrS3 thin-film solar cells. In February and March 2025, he was Marie Curie Fellow at INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory. Dr. Kumar has received several prestigious honors, including the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Award in 2024 and the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Seal of Excellence in 2023. He was also awarded the INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship in 2023. Additionally he received international travel grants from EPFL and DST, which enabled him to present his research in Switzerland in 2021 and in the USA in 2018. He won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the IEEE Conference in Bangalore in 2018. Dr. Kumar has actively participated in and presented his work at numerous international conferences. Furthermore, he has been a visiting researcher at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, in 2015 and at the Centre for Nanoscience & Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore in 2014.
