Dr. Vikramsingh Thakur is a polymer scientist specializing in functional polymer composites, sustainable materials, and advanced packaging systems. He completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from IIT Delhi as a Prime Minister’s Research Fellow (PMRF), India’s most prestigious doctoral fellowship. His doctoral research focused on multifunctional polymer nanocomposite films with enhanced barrier, mechanical, antioxidant, and sensing functionalities for smart and sustainable packaging. He holds an M.Tech. in Polymer Science and Technology from IIT Delhi (with distinction), a B.Tech. Gold Medalist in Plastic and Polymer Engineering from MIT Aurangabad, and a Diploma from Government Polytechnic, Amravati, reflecting a strong and consistent academic foundation.
Dr. Thakur has extensive industry–academia research experience. He has worked at ITC Life Sciences & Technology Centre (ITC Ltd.) on industrial-grade biodegradable and high-barrier packaging materials for food, tobacco, and personal care sectors, and at Bambrew Plant Fiber & Technology, contributing to next-generation sustainable and meta-material-based packaging innovations. Earlier, he served as a Research Engineer at Saint-Gobain Abrasives R&D, where his work on nonwoven products earned the Business Impact Award. His research training also includes stints at Resil Chemicals (silicone-modified resins) and DRDO Pune (electrospun nanofiber-reinforced laminates).
His achievements include two patents, notably an Indian patent on bilayered halochromic freshness-indicator films and sustainable. His honors include the PMRF, Research Excellence Travel Award, Best Teaching Assistant Award, Devidasrao Ashtaputre Memorial Award, Research Scholar Travel Award and Best Poster Award at a national pharmaceutical symposium.
Dr. Thakur serves on the Advisory Board of Bambrew Plant Fiber Pvt. Ltd. as a Consultant, playing a key role in steering materials innovation and accelerating the development of disruptive, sustainable packaging technologies at the interface of research and industrial deployment.
