About:

Dr. Mayank Suman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. His research focuses on studying and modeling climate change impacts on hydrological systems, statistical analysis of hydrological time series, and the application of wavelet transformation and copula theory in hydroclimatic analysis.

He earned his Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur (2020), where his research, under the supervision of Prof. Rajib Maity, focused on the analysis and modeling of climate change impact on hydrological extreme events across India. He also holds an M.Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur (2015) and a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from NIT Hamirpur (2013).

Before joining IIT Jodhpur, Dr. Suman held research positions at leading institutions. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Pohang University of Science and Technology, South Korea (Sep 2021 – Feb 2022) in the Division of Environmental Science and Engineering. He also served as a Research Associate at IIT Kharagpur (Jan 2021 – July 2021) in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Beyond academia, Dr. Suman is an open-source enthusiast and a contributor to multiple open-source projects, earning the title of Arctic Code Vault Contributor for GitHub's 2020 Code Archive Program. Additionally, he is a martial artist, holding a First-Degree Black Belt (Shodan) in Kyokushin-kan Karate.
