Sourya joined the School as an economics faculty member in
Spring 2025. His empirical research lies at the intersection of environmental
and development economics, with an emphasis on climate change, sustainable
agriculture, green transitions, and equitable migration. He examines how
environmental factors interact with structural economic vulnerabilities to
inform effective policy solutions.
Over the years, Sourya has held various research positions.
His work has been published in reputable ABDC-indexed journals, earning him
awards and honoraria. His invited popular writings appear in leading newspapers
and magazines such as The Hindu, Business Line, Business Today,
The Indian Express, The Financial Express, Hindustan Times,
and others.
An active member of several professional associations,
Sourya regularly contributes to interdisciplinary conferences and policy
forums. Notably, he has collaborated with ADBI (Tokyo) on multiple occasions.
His academic achievements include a gold medal in his bachelor’s programme,
distinctions from the RBI Governor during his master’s studies, and an early
doctoral thesis completion award from the University of Auckland Business
School. He has also received top-tier publication recognition from CB Research Networks
(USA).
