Welcome

Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur is organizing VIRASAT 2019: a SPIC MACAY Festival, a five-day long cultural extravaganza to celebrate the variety and richness of Indian Cultural Heritage, in association with SPIC MACAY Rajasthan, during 26-30 March 2019.
Virasat, literally meaning heritage in Hindi, is an Indian Cultural Festival that showcases an eclectic mixture of all aspects of Indian Cultural Heritage. It was launched for the first time in Dehradun in 1995 and is held annually during the first half of the Academic Year in  educational institutions across the nation and abroad.
Brought forth by a bouquet of eminent artists and performers from across the country, the festival provides an opportunity to the students to know, understand, appreciate and imbibe their own culture. During this period, it is planned to host several renowned personalities as detailed in the other sections of this site, including the founder of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), Professor Kiran Seth.
Also, being organized for the first time in Jodhpur, Virasat’19 not only offers a mere viewership but also provides an interactive interface between the various masters of the arts and the students. Virasat’19 is organized by the students and for the students with the help of their teachers and mentors. However, it also provides an equal opportunity to all the Faculty Members and Staff Members and their families of the educational institutes to be an integral part of the whole process. The festival will showcase a series of instrumental, vocal and dance performances. It will also have a number of workshops on art and culture, movie screening, yoga sessions for school children, college goers and the IIT Jodhpur family.
