Undergraduate Research Initiative
The Undergraduate Research initiative (UGRI) Program of the Institute provides a platform to young students to engage in research with Faculty Members of the Institute for a period of two (2) months during summer.
Instructions to Apply
To be eligible to apply, students must have completed their V Semester of B.E., B.Tech., B.Tech.-M.Tech. Dual Degree, or 1st Year of M.Sc. or M.A. Program. Students must have secured academic performance of 70% or a 7.5 CPI/CGPA on a 10 point scale, or 65% or 7.0 CPI/CGPA. They must not have failed any course.
Interested students may apply online at www.oa.iitj.ac.in/UGRI Students must provide a proposal (in pdf format) on the research which she/he would like to carry out at IIT Jodhpur. The proposal must indicate the name of the Faculty Member of IIT Jodhpur, with whom she/he is interested to work with (Students are advised to visit the webpages of Faculty Members of IIT Jodhpur to learn their interest). Students should not contact directly any Faculty Member of IIT Jodhpur during the application process. Selected students need to submit a No-Objection Certificate from the HoD or Principal of his/her Institute/University at the time of joining the UGRI program. Selected students have to stay on the IITJ campus for a minimum period of two (2) months for being eligible to receive the certificate. Students must have their own health insurance valid for at least three (3) months.
The research proposal must provide the following information:
(1) Abstract (maximum 250 words),
(2) Objectives and expected outcomes,
(3) Significant impact to the society, and
(4) Outlines of procedures and methodologies.
The proposal should not exceed four A4 pages or 1200 words, including illustrations.
Financial Assistance and Accommodation
Selected students will be provided suitable accommodations in the student hostel at GPRA campus of IIT Jodhpur. They will be provided with the remuneration of Rs. 8,000 per month for two months. Students have to pay charges, related to their boarding and lodging as per the Institute rules.
Selection Process
Applications will be screened by an UGRI 2016 Selection Committee, based on merit of the research proposal. The list of selected applicants will be intimated through eMail. Students must confirm their participation through eMail on or before 28 April 2016.

2.  Last date for submitting On-line Applications :  10 April 2016
3.  Announcement of selected candidates on IIT Jodhpur Website :  28 April 2016
4.  Confirmation from the selected applicants :  01 May 2016
5.  Commencement of the UGRI 2016 Program :  16 May 2016 
6.  Submission of research report and presentation of seminar :  15 July 2016
