Objectives
   
  • To advance the innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives of IIT Jodhpur Faculties;
  • To promote innovation and entrepreneurship ethos among students of IIT Jodhpur.
  • To provide an interface for Startups/MSMEs to collaborate with faculty members and students of IITJ and other research and academic organisations in the country;
  • To encourage research and technology development relevant for MSMEs/ Startups by utilizing the co-existing facility of Common Research and Technology Development Hub at IIT Jodhpur in the area of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIOT);
  • To help solve some of the problems associated with running early stage companies by using the unique infrastructural and lab facilities available at IIT Jodhpur, and also to build an ecosystem to enhance entrepreneurial capital and support ventures that have the potential to scale rapidly, compete globally, generate wealth and create enriching and fulfilling employment. IITJ-TISC facilitates a wide range of 'Next Gen Entrepreneurship' and is open to all science and technology-based initiatives;
  • To create technology-based Business Incubation facility for Startups with a co-working platform, providing opportunities for Angel Investors and Technology seekers to setup office for interacting with startups and faculty members of IIT Jodhpur;
  • To support enabling of startup entrepreneurs in building rural inclusive business models, primarily those that enable scalable products and services for the under-served and bottom-of-the-pyramid segment;
  • To create, disseminate, apply and conserve knowledge in all allied engineering and science subjects of the Institute for novel product development;
Note:
IITJ has also developed a well-structured experiential learning based programme with an aim to gain insights such as understanding and designing for end users, working in and managing interdisciplinary teams, communicating effectively, thinking critically, understanding business basics, and solving open-ended problems. This course is designed to impart knowledge on above mentioned aspects in addition to the knowledge acquired through traditional engineering education. This programme is undertaken to cater to the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programme students of Engineering and Science disciplines. Students may opt for Entrepreneurship as a part of the curriculum from the beginning of 8th Semester. A student would be required to complete a minimum of six months for Minor in Entrepreneurship. A student will earn 20 credits on successful completion of a minimum of six months of Entrepreneurship. The students would be exempted from the requirement of 10 open elective credits in lieu credit earned against Entrepreneurship, however, the remaining coursework is required to be completed by taking overload in the earlier semesters or can be completed after completion of programme in  Entrepreneurship. A student should have earned minimum required credits with at least 6 CGPA at the end of 7thsemester to opt for dual-degree M.Tech. Programme.
