| IITJ has redesigned its academic programmes to provide opportunity to the students for harnessing their creativity in a multi-disciplinary setting with deep technology focus. The institute has initiated several new programs responding to emerging technology trends, industrial demands and socio-economic needs of the country. These programs are in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Physical Systems, Sensors and Internet of Things and Smart Manufacturing. The institute promotes seven Interdisciplinary Research Platforms in different domains which include Space Technology, Internet of Things, Digital Humanities, Autonomous Unmanned Vehicles, Smart Health and Quantum Information. IITJ has started two new centres: Centre for Technology Foresight and Centre for Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Development. Institute is pursuing its R&D agenda around these themes. It has contributed significantly in cancer diagnostics, sensor development, technologies for electric vehicle, cyber physical system, Computer Vision and AI | ||
| IITJ has set up Technology Innovation and Start-up Centre. As incubator, this is now recognised by the Ministry of MSME and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for funding support. IITJ students (both UG and Post-graduate) now have options to pursue novel product development in the incubation centre as part of their curricular requirement. Entrepreneurship is now an integral component of curriculum for interested students. A Ph.D candidate can spend an additional year in the incubation centre for possible translation of the know-how generated before deciding to launch a start-up. These are part of our plan to support growth of deep-tech start up’s. | ||
| We have planned a technology park at IIT Jodhpur. One of the major thrust areas of we plan to promote at technology park is Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIOT). We are establishing common facilities centre (having provisions for design, simulation and fabrication AIOT products) to support industrial research centres and pilot plants at the technology park. With AIIMS we are working on development of innovative medical devices. We plan to have a MedTech innovation centre set up at the technology park in collaboration with AIIMS Jodhpur. Honourable President of India has welcomed this initiative. | ||
| IITJ strongly believes in scientific social commitment. Under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) initiative IIT Jodhpur has adopted five villages under Bhopalgarh district, for carrying out development activities. IIT Jodhpur has also become a Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI) of the UBA .The Institute has also taken a major step by leading the aspirational “Sirohi” project. It is about the innovative use of High End Technologies and Governance Reforms for Aspirational Districts. The goal is to accelerate district performance under Aspirational District Program through technological and management interventions and develop ‘Sirohi Model’. | ||
| The institute invites individuals and organizations to join us in our efforts to create new generation technologies and engineering manpower. Many challenges can be met if we join hands. We are looking forward to your active participation as professor of practice (bringing in industrial and stake holder’s perspective to class-room education), as mentors for our students and incubates, as contributors for designing our curriculum and chalking out our strategy for growth in short-term and long term perspectives.
