Mr. Gopalakrishnan has been a corporate leader for 50 years. He has served as Chairman of Unilever Arabia, as MD of Brooke Bond Lipton and Vice Chairman of Hindustan Lever, as Director of Tata Sons and several Tata companies. He serves as an independent director and non-executive chairman of Castrol India and as an independent director of Hemas Holdings PLC, Sri Lanka. Mr Gopalakrishnan has been a newspaper columnist and continues to write every month for financial papers. He has also authored nine books. He is actively engaged in instructional & inspirational speaking. Mr Gopalakrishnan serves as a Distinguished Professor of IIT Kharagpur and as Executive-in-residence at SP Jain Institute of Management & Research.
Mr. Chandrajeet Banerjee holds/has held Trusteeship and Board Member posts in many institutions. The list includes the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG); Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA); Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST); Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM); World Economic Forum (WEF), Global Agenda Council of India; Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC); Indian Institute of Management (IIM), etc. Mr Banerjee is also a Member of the Managing Committee of SPORTSCOM and Governing Council Member of Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC). CII Foundation and India@75 Foundation, which are promoted and supported by CII, are also two institutions where he is a Board level member.
Mr Banerjee is also a Director of the Singapore India Partnership Foundation (SIPF). He is a Director on the Board at the "Invest India," set up by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India. He is also Secretary for many bilateral CEOs Forums constituted by The Government of India like Australia, France, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Sweden, South Africa, etc. Mr Banerjee has been honoured with the Chinese Premier's China-India Friendship Award to contribute to the development of bilateral ties between India and China. He was conferred with the decoration of "Knight Commander" by His Majesty, The King of Spain, to recognize his meritorious achievements and exceptional contributions towards promoting relations between India and Spain
Prof. Shekhar Chaudhuri taught at IIMA from March 1981 till November 2002. From May 2000 till December 2001, he was the Dean of the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur. He was the Director of IIM Calcutta for two consecutive terms from November 2002 till April 2013. From May 2013 till April 2015 period, he worked to set up the School of Management & Entrepreneurship at the Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida in the founding director's capacity.
During his tenure at IIMC, he played the role of a change agent. He was instrumental in bringing about a significant transformation of the Institute involving envisioning a new vision and mission, launching innovative post-graduate academic programs, doubling the number of students in the MBA program, and a 50 percent increase in the faculty strength. During his tenure, efforts were initiated to get IIMC accredited by the world's top international accreditation agencies, which ultimately led to the Institute getting the coveted AACSB accreditation and later accreditation by AMBA and EQUIS also. Currently, IIM Calcutta is the only Institute in the country to have all the three top accreditations. In 2009 he received MIT, Pune-MAEER'S Bharat Asmita Acharya Shreshtha Award (Best Teacher in Management) from the then Vice-President of India, and in 2012 he received the Ravi J Mathai National Fellowship Award from the Association of Indian Management Schools.
Dr. Hasit B Joshipura is a well-known veteran with three decades of rich Pharma industry experience, and is a Member of the Executive Committee, Senior Vice President & Head of Electrical & Automation at Larsen & Toubro Limited. He has earlier served as an Independent Director of L&T Technology Services Limited and as a Senior Vice President - South Asia & Managing Director - India of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) from 2007 to 2015. Before this, Dr. Joshipura was Chairman, GSK - Bangladesh from 2007 to 2010, a locally listed entity, and Chairman, GSK - Sri Lanka 2007 to 2015. Dr. Joshipura has served on the Board of IIM - Ahmedabad from 2009 to 2013 and again 2016 onwards. He also serves on the Board of IIM - Ranchi and has been a visiting faculty at the School of Management in IIT - Mumbai and Indian School of Business - Hyderabad.
Kiran Karnik has interest and involvement in a range of public issues. In the course of a career of over four decades, he has had the unique experience of straddling the diverse spheres of government, business and civil society with equal comfort and accomplishment. Currently, he is Chairman of the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (a university set up by the Delhi government), and Chair of HelpAge India. He is also on the Board of other educational institutions, and NGOs in the fields of public service broadcasting, population, and development.
He was Chairman of the government-appointed Board that took charge of Satyam Computer Services in 2009 (after the biggest corporate fraud in India), and oversaw its successful rehabilitation and sale. He has been on many key government committees, including the Scientific Advisory Council to Prime Minister and the National Innovation Council. He was a Director on the Board of Reserve Bank of India (2011-15), and currently chairs its IT subsidiary (ReBIT). He is also an independent Director on a few company Boards.
Mr. Karnik's was as President of NASSCOM(2001-2008). During his six year tenure at NASSCOM, industry exports grew almost 8 times, and NASSCOM itself became a globally-known and respected brand. This won him wide recognition as the guiding force for the Indian IT industry.
Mr. Karnik was the Managing Director at Discovery Networks in India where he spearheaded the launch of Discovery Channel in South Asia in August 1995, and Animal Planet in 1999. He was Founder-Director of the Consortium for Educational Communication during 1991 to 1995, which was responsible for the Countrywide Classroom broadcasts and other ICT initiatives of India's University Grants Commission.
Earlier, Mr. Karnik worked for over 20 years at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), where he held various positions including that of Founder-Director of ISRO's Development and Educational Communication Unit.
Mr. Karnik has worked in the United Nations in New York and Vienna as Special Assistant to the Secretary-General of UNISPACE 82.
Mr. Karnik has been conferred many awards and accolades including the Padma Shri in 2007.
Mr. Karnik has regularly written for various major national publications, and occasionally lectures at important national institutes and international conferences. His books 'The Coalition of Competitors', Harper Collins, 2012 and 'Crooked Minds - Creating an Innovative Society', Rupa Publications, 2017 were very well received.
He is a MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, a B Sc with Honours degree in Physics from Bombay University.
Mr. R. Mukundan, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited, joined Tata Administrative Service in 1990 after completing an MBA from FMS, Delhi University. He is an Engineer from IIT, Roorkee and an Alumnus of Harvard Business School. During his 29-year career with Tata Group, he has held various responsibilities across the Chemical, Automotive, and Hospitality sectors of the Tata Group. He serves on Executive Committees of various industry forums viz. Confederation of Indian Industry, Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Employers' Federation of India, All India Management Association, etc.
Mr. Raj Nair is a strategy consultant. He is the Chairman of Avalon Consulting, Germinait Solutions and AGR Knowledge Services. He also co-founded a marketing analytics company, Ugam Solutions, which he sold last year. He is the past President of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His previous professional experience before becoming an entrepreneur, include Merchant Banking and Consumer Durables marketing. He had correctly called out the Global Financial Crisis of 2008-09 in 2007. He also predicted the oil price crash from $140 in 2008 when Goldman Sachs had predicted that it would rise to $200 per barrel.
He publishes an annual paper around New Year about what to expect in the course of the year on socio-political and polemic front and their impact on the economies of different countries.
