Funding and Research Opportunities for Biomedical and Health Research in India: 6 January 2020
The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance organised an outreach programme for research scientists in the Jodhpur area at IIT Jodhpur on 6 January. The programme was aimed at biomedical and health researchers and covered various funding opportunities available under its aegis. There was a session on how to write effective proposals to secure funding for research, and a panel discussion on crafting academic career in biomedical research in India. The panel was moderated by Dr. Divya Tiwari from the India Alliance and included Dr. Kavita Babu, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Dr. Tavpritesh Sethi, IIIT Delhi, Dr. Shankar Manoharan, IIT Jodhpur and Dr. Geeta Trilok-Kumar, Institute of Home Economics, New Delhi. The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance aims to advance discovery and innovation to improve health and well-being by funding biomedical and health research in India. India Alliance invests in transformative ideas and supportive research ecosystems. In addition to funding, India Alliance is also committed to bridge the science-society gap through various initiatives. The independent, public charity is funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India and the Wellcome Trust, UK. This session was attended by researchers from IIT Jodhpur as well as from Institutions around Jodhpur.
