IIT Jodhpur commemorated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing various social and cultural activities.The celebration began with a Fit India Ploughing Run in the morning followed by a Tree Plantation Drive. The evening witnessed an official ceremony followed by cultural program.   

Following are the details of the events.

The dawn of 2nd October 2019 witnessed a Fit India Ploughing Run organized by Kendriya Vidyalaya of IIT Jodhpur. Participants including Teachers, Parents and Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya collected garbage during the run. Also, a friendly volleyball match was played between volleyball team of IIT jodhpur and Kendriya Vidyalaya team that included teachers of KV and parents of KV students.

The celebration evening of 2nd October 2019 began with a Bhajan Recital followed by Welcome speech by Prof. C. Venkatesan, Professor In-Charge(Faculty), IIT Jodhpur. Dr. Puneet Sharma, Chairman, Council of Warden delivered a presentation on Cleanliness Drive in Dining Area of the Institute, emphasizing on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in hostel and mess areas of the Institute. The Guest of Honor at the event was Prof. Varun Arya, Director, Aravali Institute of Management who addressed the gathering on "Ethical Leadership - Challenges and Dilemmas". The Chief Guest Prof. Sanjeev Misra, Director, AIIMS Jodhpur delivered the ceremonial address. The event included a theatrical performance on Mahatma Gandhi by GrassRoots Art Society, Jodhpur and a cultural program by the students of IIT Jodhpur. Dr. Samanwita Pal, Associate Dean(Students), IIT Jodhpur delivered the vote of thanks.
