The Master’s thesis work of Mr. Priyanshu Raj Shrivastava titled ‘Design and Development of Novel Jaw Rehabilitation Device for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder patients’ carried out under the supervision of Dr. Kaushal A Desai, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering has been selected for the prestigious SITARE- Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award (GYTI) 2021 awarded by BIRAC. GYTI Awards celebrates the spirit of student innovation in engineering, science, technology, and design through extremely affordable/frugal solutions or the ones pushing the technological edge. The proposed device is effective and cost-effective for the treatment of people suffering from Temporomandibular Joint Disorders. After completing the Master’s thesis work, Priyanshu continued developing and testing a device as an alumnus at TISC IIT Jodhpur in collaboration with Dr. Ankita Chugh, Additional Professor, AIIMS Jodhpur. The developed device is currently being tested on patients at AIIMS, and the student is considering having a medical device start-up from the innovation.
