Abstract: India is the 4th largest market of medical devices in Asia and counted amongst the top 20 markets in the world. Yet most demand for medical devices in the country are currently met through imports, comprising ~80% of the total sales. This high import dependency offers an attractive opportunity for domestic manufacturers. This talk will discuss the opportunities and challenges in starting a medical device industry in India. 

About the Speaker: Dr. Sonaje has over 12 years of research experience in biomaterials, lyophilization, formulation development, and medical device products. He has done his Ph.D. from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan in 2011 and did his postdoctoral studies at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He has been granted 21 US patents and has authored more than 20 research articles in international journals.
