Abstract |
Man has remained fascinated with space and time since eternity. Starting with the early discoveries of telescope, microscope and clocks, we have graduated to atomic force microscopy and ultra-short laser pulses that provide unprecedented spatio-temporal resolution necessary to study natural phenomena at the microscopic level. The most recent development is single molecule spectroscopy that opened a unique way to study chemical and biological phenomena, like protein folding, enzyme kinetics, protein-DNA interaction at a single molecule level. We shall discuss many of the recent discoveries on these areas and try to understand fundamental microscopic chemical events that drive these processes. |
