Prof. Rakesh K Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London. The Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) is an award and fellowship granted to individuals that the Royal Society has declared for making a prominent contribution to the advancement of chemical science and technology. It recognizes significant accomplishments by a professional for the extraordinary contributions to the field of chemistry. The elected fellows are given the designation of Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). Prof. Sharma has received this recognition for his extensive contributions in catalysis, energy, and environmental science. He has developed innovative technological advancements with Rajasthani clay for Bio-Fuels, organic transformation, catalytic converters, high-temperature lubricants, water and air purification, and soil remediation. In addition, He has made significant contributions in the area of solar hydrogen technology, solar cells, heavy metal removal, and stealth technology. Prof. Sharma’s research group has given a new dimension to the overlooked natural materials such as clay, silica-alumina, carbon, rust, and metal oxides to create industrial applications. He has attracted significant government and industrial funding and published more than 70 peer- reviewed papers in the diverse area of chemical science. He has published ten books/chapters and patented eight technologies out of them 3 technologies are at TRL 9 stage.
