Mr Saket Phadkule, PhD Research Scholar has been awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Split-Site PhD Scholarship for the year 2023-24

 

Mr Saket Phadkule, PhD Research Scholar at FERN (Flexible sEnsoRs from Nanocomposites) Lab within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, has been awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Split-Site PhD Scholarship for the year 2023-24! This highly esteemed scholarship will enable him to embark on a fully-funded year of research studies in the field of Smart Bandages at the prestigious University of Surrey, UK

Mr Saket has been working with Dr Shrutidhara Sarma in the development of highly conductive electrospun nanocomposite fibers for flexible temperature sensors. He has successfully created prototypes of high-performance flexible temperature sensors using hybrid nanocomposite materials that has resulted in the publication of several papers in renowned journals.

About the Award: Funded by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the historic Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development. It is a merit-based scholarship offered by the British Council to meritorious international students with the potential to impact the global stage positively.  FCDO offer PhD scholars studying at eligible universities across the Commonwealth the opportunity to conduct research at an institute in the UK for 12 months. By funding research scholars in various study formats, the scheme helps support future innovators and leaders.
