History and Historical Places of Jodhpur
Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan is popularly known as the Blue City and officially the second metropolitan city of the state. Jodhpur lies near the geographic centre of the Rajasthan state, which makes it a convenient base for travel in a region much frequented by tourists. The history of this prosperous city revolves around the Rathore dynasty. Rao Jodha, the chief of Rathore clan is credited with the origin of Jodhpur in India. The people of Jodhpur and surrounding areas are commonly known as Marwaris.
