Professor Bhagwati P. Kashyap joins IIT Jodhpur
Professor Bhagwati P. Kashyap joined IIT Jodhpur on 2 August 2017 as Visiting Professor. He obtained M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1975 and 1980, respectively. Thereafter, in 1987, he joined the Department of Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science, IIT Bombay, as Assistant Professor, where he served in various capacities till 2013. Post retirement, Professor Kashyap, rendered his services to IIT Bombay as Emeritus Fellow till 2017.
 Professor Kashyap's research interest areas are Thermo-mechanical treatment and Super-plasticity, Grain boundary phenomena, Creep and low temperature deformation, Microstructure – flow property correlations, and Light metals and alloy development. He has several research publications in internationally acclaimed journals, projects and a patent to his credit.
During his tenure at IIT Bombay, Professor Kashyap received recognition for his work in the field like Distinguished Metallurgists/Material Scientists Award, by Institution of Engineers (India), Maharashtra State Centre, Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Fellowship: Research in Super-plasticity of Aerospace Materials in the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, MRSI (Materials Research Society of India) Medal Lecture, 2006, Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), 2006, Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, 2007, and Institute Chair Professor (2011-2014).
